Colonel Domingo Gobway, Igorot from Kiangan, Ifugao, formally assumed the position of Commander of the 101st Infantry (Three Red Arrows) Brigade of the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division and Joint Task Force Basilan of the Philippine Army on Thursday, July 9, 2020, during the Change of Command ceremony held at the headquarters of 101st Brigade, Camp Luis R. Biel II, Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan Province.
Colonel Gobway, a member of the PMA “BIGKIS-LAHI” Class of 1990, replaced Brigadier General Fernando Reyeg, who will become the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training, said Major Arvin Encinas, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command spokesman.
Gobway, in a message, expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the trust and confidence given to him.
“As I assume command of this Brigade, expect that we will work as a team and together we will outsmart our enemies and put premium in working hand-in-hand with our stakeholders,” Colonel Gobway said.
The turnover ceremony was presided over by Major General Generoso M. Ponio, head of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division.
Colonel Gobway’s early years in the Army were spent in Cotabato province before serving in the Visayas for almost 14 years.
Before his current position, he was the Inspector General of the 8th Infantry Division that operates in Samar and Leyte.
His older brother, Rogelio Gobway received the award on his behalf.
Colonel Gobway promoted to Brigadier General
The Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) donned ranks to newly promoted Army Commanders on January 28, 2021.
Lt. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana led the ceremony of awarding the star ranks to Brigadier General Domingo B. Gobway, Commander of the 101st Brigade, and 4 other officials.
“To the newly-promoted Generals, remember that as commanders, your role is crucial in upholding the Philippine Army’s core purpose of serving the people and securing the land,” said the CGPA.
“I am confident that your promotion will enable you to better serve the Philippine Army, the AFP, our country, and the Filipino people as a whole,” he added.
