Three areas in the Cordillera are among the nine areas considered by the OCTA Research Group as high-risk areas of COVID-19.

Three areas in the Cordillera Administrative Region are among the areas considered by OCTA Research as high-risk areas of COVID-19.

According to the OCTA Research, it includes Baguio City; Itogon and Tuba, Benguet among the nine areas in the country considered high risk areas.

The research team explained that this was due to the high number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the said areas in recent days.

As a result, the research team fears that hospitals will be overcrowded, and medical frontliners in such areas will have a hard time due to the high COVID-19 cases.

The research team advised local governments to improve their measures against COVID-19 to prevent the virus from spreading further.

Apart from Baguio City, Tuba and Itogon, Benguet, Makati City is also considered as high-risk areas; Malabon City; Lucena, Quezon; Iloilo City; Catarman, Northern Samar and Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur.

According to the latest records of the Department of Health – Cordillera (November 3, 2020), the total number of COVID-19 patients in the Cordillera Administrative Region has reached 4,176.
